Cathedral of the Assumption of Kiev city was begun in 1073 and completed in 1078. Work on the mosaic and fresco decoration of Kiev Cathedral of the Assumption continued until 1089. The Cathedral of the Assumption was destroyed in 1941 during the German occupation.

Cathedral of the Assumption was an aisled, three-apsed six-piered church, with a single cupola. At the western end was a narthex with a gallery over it.
