Kiev Ukraine Branch of the Central Museum
Content:
overview
Branch of the Central Museum was built in 1910-1913 to the design of Pavel Alioshin. In 1938 it was extended and altered by the same architect to house a branch of the Lenin Museum. The U-shaped building has a semicircular projection on the main facade. It is faced with white Inkerman stone; the ground floor is band-rusticated.
The principal motif of the facade is the closely-set windows with platbands in the form of distyle porticoes. Above them is a sculptured frieze representing the development of science and enlightenment.
