overview

Church of All Saints of Kiev city was built in 1696-1698. Church of All Saints is two-storeyed, cruciform, with five cupolas. Not only the plan, but the whole spatial structure of Church of All Saints of Kiev reproduces the type of the Ukrainian wooden cruciform five-domed church. The restrained decoration - elaborate niches, pilasters, ledges, cornices, roll-mouldings, round openings, and unusual capitals with inverted volutes - is executed in brick. The Church of All Saints building is one of the early examples of the Ukrainian Baroque style.

Only a small fragment of painting has survived from the original decoration of the interior. The existing murals were done in 1905 by pupils of the monastery painting school supervised by the artist Ivan Izhakevich. The iconostasis belongs to the late seventeenth century, but a large part of the icons were painted in the eighteenth, and some in the nineteenth century.
