Kiev Ukraine Hotel Slavutich overview
Kiev city hotel Slavutich was built in 1972 to the designs of Vadim Ladny and Heinrich Kulchitsky. The building stands on the promontory between Rusanovsky Sound and the Kiev-Darnitsa urban highway, and has the form of an open book. For this sixteen-storeyed edifice the architects used a system of transverse load-bearing walls.
The hotel Slavutich restaurant is decorated with an unglazed ceramic relief, Youth, by Boris Dovgan and Olga Rappai. It is in soft tones and blends well not only with the architecture of the hall, of which it is the main artistic ornament, but also with the natural surroundings; the girl and the youth with a guitar, sitting on the branches of a tree, are seen against the background of the beautiful scenery of Kiev's right bank beyond the windows.
