Former Metropolitan's House was built in 1721-1727. The first floor was added between 1731 and 1747. In 1757 elaborate pediments were erected over the west and east facades. When the upper storey was added the cornice at the top of the original single-storeyed building was retained, so that it divides the facade into two tiers. Although Former Metropolitan's House took shape over a considerable period of time, the house displays a consistent Ukrainian Baroque style.
